Yes. There have been several posts regarding this very thing.

I do not think the point is to give Sharpton a dose of his own medicine but to have him give some medicine to some artistes who describe all women especially blacks as whores.

Do not forget that whites were the first to use the "n" word but blacks nullify the effect by referring to themselves as n******. This is why blacks react differently when they use the "n" from when whites use it; and its not being hypocritical.

Imus called specific young people racist names and paid the penalty I hope others (black and white) take note.

I agree with you 100%. Sharpton has blown the whole Imus incident out of proportion & lately he's been really sounding like an idiot. For some reason, I think someone has told Sharpton that he is the new Martin Luther King Jr. or something, but he needs to think again & get a life.

The reason people like Sharpton and Jackson still have the limelight when it comes to issues of racism with the black populous is because they create media. I view them as people that refuse to step down for the pedestals that were created for black leaders in society because they want the glory and notoriety that come with it. Those two are examples of how The goals of the NAACP can be twisted and perverted to justify one sided actions and options just as any group. The fault lies within the organization itself for not regulating the Sharptons and Jacksons inside itself.

It is also a shame when a noted leader like Bill Cosby gets attack publicly by these fossils of yester-years for needed commentary about the direction for black society. It is an irony that so many of our generation see them as the evils that they fought so hard to protect against.

The focus of these to men is not to place any blame on the black community but to incite the guilt of others in an attempt to wash away any sin or injuries that the a black person commits.

I would like to close with this. You may not like or support them but they are just one side of a coin, as much as i hate to say it, there over the edge bible waving finger pointing, balances out the same bible waving and finger pointing of there counter parts, but we would all be better off if they just tried to work together instead of finding faults and placing blame.

1987: Sharpton spreads the incendiary Tawana Brawley hoax, insisting heatedly that a 15-year-old black girl was abducted, raped, and smeared with feces by a group of white men. He singles out Steve Pagones, a young prosecutor. Pagones is wholly innocent -- the crime never occurred -- but Sharpton taunts him: "If we're lying, sue us, so we can . . . prove you did it." Pagones does sue, and eventually wins a $345,000 verdict for defamation. To this day, Sharpton refuses to recant his unspeakable slander or to apologize for his role in the odious affair.

1991: A Hasidic Jewish driver in Brooklyn's Crown Heights section accidentally kills Gavin Cato, a 7-year-old black child, and antisemitic riots erupt. Sharpton races to pour gasoline on the fire. At Gavin's funeral he rails against the "diamond merchants" -- code for Jews -- with "the blood of innocent babies" on their hands. He mobilizes hundreds of demonstrators to march through the Jewish neighborhood, chanting, "No justice, no peace." A rabbinical student, Yankel Rosenbaum, is surrounded by a mob shouting "Kill the Jews!" and stabbed to death.

1995: When the United House of Prayer, a large black landlord in Harlem, raises the rent on Freddy's Fashion Mart, Freddy's white Jewish owner is forced to raise the rent on his subtenant, a black-owned music store. A landlord-tenant dispute ensues; Sharpton uses it to incite racial hatred. "We will not stand by," he warns malignantly, "and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business." Sharpton's National Action Network sets up picket lines; customers going into Freddy's are spat on and cursed as "traitors" and "Uncle Toms." Some protesters shout, "Burn down the Jew store!" and simulate striking a match. "We're going to see that this cracker suffers," says Sharpton's colleague Morris Powell. On Dec. 8, one of the protesters bursts into Freddy's, shoots four employees point-blank, then sets the store on fire. Seven employees die in the inferno.

If Sharpton were a white skinhead, he would be a political leper, spurned everywhere but the fringe. But far from being spurned, he is shown much deference. Democrats embrace him. Politicians court him. And journalists report on his comings and goings while politely sidestepping his career as a hatemongering racial hustler.

Between Sharpton and Jessie Jackson, they both make me want to puke. They are the most racist people around. Anything they can stick their noses in to make a bit of $ they wil do it. The best word for both of them: Social Parasites.

Everyone is a hypocrite to some extent, and everyone can be twisted into looking rascist. Is our lives so dull that we need to live vicariously through the news, which only perpetuates the division of this country.

Say what you want about Al sharpton but he is only a mouth peice.

It would be great for his supporters to rise up and demand accountability. When will people learn that racism breads racism. You can not join by sepperation. The black family is going backwards, the abortion rate of black babies is going through the roof. They are victims of People like Al Sharpton. Yhey are told they cant make it so they do not try while that fat SOB gets rich lieing to the very people he claims to represent.

He is no Martin Luther King I beleive he would make MLK puke.

First of all, the the issue you guys seem to be talking about is the Imus situation. And that situation was more about a sexist remark than racial. It saddens me that we are not to a point where we are too blind to see that. As a young black woman, I was highly offended because these women did nothing to Imus and no woman deserves to be called out of their names for being themselves. Second of all, imagine if that was your sister on that team...would you not jump to defend her? If it was your friend, your lover, your mother, your neighbor, or even a stranger?? Would you still defend that woman? There is no reason any man should not feel as offended as Al Sharpton was by those comments. I am in no way defending what Al Sharpton does but his reaction does not surprise me because every man I grew up with would do the same and he should not punished for that.

Al Sharpton was recently interviewed and claims not to be racist, but he support recently of rap music and claiming that it is not the same as what the DJ was recently fired for it alarming. He claimed that rap is affecting only certain youths and not the general population is totally wrong. Considering his criminal record during his career, i am totally surprised at his current status in life.

Al Sharpton uses the public forum for precisely the same things he is supposedly against: rancid hatred. He and Jesse Jackson have done more to hurt race relations than help.

I know this a long long list of answers and my opinion probably would not be heard...Here I go though. Some of these answers are true and some are well... interesting. My point is that "Reverend" Al Sharpton is far short from being any religious or political man. He teaches and stands up for the black community. He "teaches" that they need to separate and stand together to fight separation, but he SHOULD be teaching that all Americans (black, white, Asians etc...) should stand together in unison, not in separation. Not only blacks should stand up together, but other races should stand with them to stop all racism and ignorance that people are taught to believe!!!

Why did it take an incident like this to open a forum on racism? Actually, it wasn't so much racist as it was sexist. Sure, we can be just like children and keep going back and forth until what..........everyone gets fired, put in jail or put totally out of commission? Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and quite frankly, man will ultimately destroy themselves because they feel they have they have to have the last say so. Things usually don't react to certain situations until it affects them personally. Historically, African Americans have been scarred to the point of no return and before you say we should get over it. Yes, we should but who was our voice when our ancestors were being raped and lynched? Did anyone even care? The church I attend is near an Underground Railroad, a site where slaves escaped from the South to the North, trying to gain their freedom and the city won't even honor the memory of the site. They won't perserve it because it's not "important" enough to them. Shame on them! My heart is heavy after all the commotion with everything that's been going on lately but I pray for them; Rev Sharpton, Rev Jackson, the Duke guys, Tawanna, The Rutgers team, anyone that feels that there has been an injustice served to them.

YOU PEOPLE KEEP GETTING IT WRONG...........

THIS IS NOT ABOUT IMUS OR AL, OR JESSE......

IT IS ALL BIGGER THAN THEM AND YOU WANT TO ATTACK THE MESSENGER AND THE PERSON THAT STANDS UP FOR A GROUP OF PEOPLE INSTEAD OF ATTACKING THE MESSAGE. Sharpton is a racist along with Jackson and the ACLU (Who even defend the rights of PEDIPHILES). If he were to have made a comment about a white organisation and the white organisation protested, he would yell RACIST and BIGGOTS as loud as his FAT WAIST LINE would allow.

Why would you want to put another human being through that?

Actions such as getting sharpton fired would do nothing but fan the flames of racisim in this country.

Imus deserved what he got. He should have kept his piehole shut. Forty year career or not. Finally someone figured out how to get his nasty-*** off the air.

I support McDonalds and Wal-Mart, and refuse to waste my time ganging up on a fellow human being, and adding resistance to his struggle for equality, and his demands for respect of people of color.

If Imus had called The US olympic Womens Ice skating team a bunch of stupid blonde ivoryleague whores, I would have expected a white man to stand up and protest, but there aren't any white men left who would have had the gonads to do something like Sharpton did.

Screw Imus.

Oh absolutely!! If I felt that there was any sincerity at all in what he says and does, I might hesitate, but he is a self-promoting, hypocritical bully. Both he and Jesse Jackson have ended up using their position and power to promote themselves and expand their influence, all in the name of equality. I'm sure they're happy if they can do some good along the way, but the agenda is purely for themselves.

Getting back at Sharpton will do what for anybody? Just drop the whole thing. Imus apologized, and Sharpton is bringing this situation to the public eye.

Why is this getting soo much publicity?

Life goes on.

McDonalds and Walmart ( laughing ) OK--Ok-- Rev Al and Rev. Jessie are just doing what they have to do to make money - They have made a good living bamboozling black society for years. But the whiety has not done a thing to curb these idiots- so - I say more power to them.

Whiety is too busy worrying about being liberally correct and s hits in his pants when a black man walks toward him. See whiety is a timid "man" and will continue to let the likes of these 2 holy men push them around. Whiety won't do a thing.

WRONG IS WRONG. IMUS MADE A STUPID COMMENT, AND I THINK ANY DECENT PERSON WOULD HAVE BEEN OFFENDED AT HIS CHOICE OF WORDS. I REALLY DON'T THINK HE INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE, BUT YOU MUST ENGAGE THE BRAIN BEFORE RUNNING THE MOUTH. HIS REMARK WAS INCREDIBLY STUPID!

HOWEVER, SUCH REMARKS ARE MADE EVERYDAY! ON A SHOW SUCH AS "JERRY SPRINGER" THEY BLEEP AND BLOOP SO MUCH THAT YOU CAN'T FOLLOW THE CONVERSATION. RAP "MUSIC" IS FULL OF RACIST, SEXIST, AND AMORAL TRASH. MANY, MANY VIDEO GAMES ARE VIOLENT IN NATURE, PROMOTING ACTIONS THAT ARE MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THAN A FOUL-MOUTHED "SHOCK JOCK."

ONE MORE THOUGHT -- ALL RACES HAVE SUFFERED INJUSTICES. WE NEED TO LEARN FROM THE PAST --- NOT DWELL IN IT. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT ANY OF MY ANCESTORS DID. I DO NOT HAVE A DEBT TO REPAY FOR SLAVERY; AND WHY DO WE "OWE" THE BLACK RACE SO MUCH? HOW ABOUT THE "INDIANS" WHO WERE HERE WHEN COLUMBUS CAME? ALONG WITH TAKING THE LAND THEY WERE WORKING AND USING THE INDIANS AS CHEAP LABOR, THE EARLY EXPLORERS AND SETTLERS BROUGHT IN DISEASE THAT KILLED MILLIONS OF INDIANS.

WHO IS TO 'BLAME?' IT IS SIMPLY HISTORY. WE CANNOT HARBOR BITTERNESS FOR EVERY WRONG DOING. PUNISHMENT MUST BE DEALT TO THE INDIVIDUALS WHO COMMIT THE WRONG AND NOT CARRIED ON THROUGH GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE LEARNED FROM PAST MISTAKES. TODAY'S SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT ONLY PROMOTE RACISM. GIVING VALIDATION TO THE LIKES OF IMUS, SHARPTON, JACKSON, LIMBAUGH, ETC., KEEPS US FROM UNITING AS

"ONE NATION, UNDER GOD."

He is one of the most racist people ever to walk the face of the earth. He complains about segregation and at the same time promotes it by labeling everything black this and black that, if any other race would do this we would have the civil rights movement at our front door. someone needs to step up and rid the world of the NAACP!

I think its a GREAT way for other people to exercise their free speech. He has said MANY comments that were inappropriate. I don't see him standing up for any race other than black.

We need to start standing up for ourselves and not let people think that we aren't hurt by other peoples comments.
