Obama has shown he is a socialist with the government takeover of corporations and industries like the insurance giant AIG, the car companies, banks and finance and now trying with our health care. He tried to get Congress to vote him more power than his office has and every member of Congress except 2 voted him down (the news media is keeping this from you but it is public record and it happened within the last two weeks). Now he wants to keep socialist driven ex president Zelaya who was constitutionally removed by Honduras Supreme Court and Legislature for repeatedly violating the constitution and trying to assume more power as well., restored to President.

I love how Conservatives accuse people of eating up what the media feeds them, when they are the ones who are poorly uneducated.

Ernesto, can you please sight examples of the Honduran Constitution to support your idea that Mel was Constitutionally removed from his presidency? Or do you just believe that because FoxNews told you so?

CONGRESS VOTED TO REMOVE MEL ZELAYA FROM HIS PRESIDENCY-------Ok. Now find me anywhere in the Honduran Constitution where it lays out any sort of plan whereby Congress has any sort of power to remove a sitting President. You won't. Plus, even if Congress did have that power, the session in which they voted was severaly disjointed. Most Congressmen weren't given amptle time or information regarding the session and the vote was merely a hand vote as opposed to the roll call vote most suitable for the occasion. In anycase, the Honduran Congress doesn't have the power to remove Zelaya.

THE SUPREME COURT PUT OUT AN ORDER ON MEL ZELAYA-----Ok, well let's start how it was executed...by the military. If Conservatives had half the mind to at least explore the Honduran Constitution they'd find that such order as distributed by the Supreme Court has to be carried out by the national police, not military. The CURRENT cheif lawyer of the Honduran military has even publicly stated that what the military did was illegal in an attempt to carry out a greater good. Illegal nonetheless.

MEL ZELAYA WAS REMOVED FROM THE COUNTRY LEGALLY --- Well by now you should be convinced this was a lie, but the really killer is that the Honduran Constitution specificaly states that no Honduran Citizen can be forcibly exiled from the country. And the only way one can lose their citizenship is through a combination of Executive and Judicial oversight, due process and a sentence (The Legislative Branch has no part in this). Mel received none of the above.

MEL WAS CORRUPT AND SHOULD BE PUNISHED ----- So why did you illegally kick him out of the country? By law of the Honduran Constitution, Mel is completely innocent because he hasn't been given due process of the law!

MICHELETTI AND THE NEW GOVERNMENT ONLY WANT THE BEST FOR HONDURAS ----- Hahahahahaha!!!! Honduras is currently isolated from the world and is under military control! They currently have various Constitutional Rights suspended from 9:00 AM to 5:00. The World Bank won't talk to them. They've been ousted from the OAS, the first since Cuba. To put it simply, Honduras looks more like a SOCIALIST state now more than ever. To add on to this, Micheletti has been publicly stating lies to the press and his citizens. He said that Israel, Italy and Taiwan all recognized his power as President. All three countries have since publicly said that they have and will continue to only recognize Mel as the Honduran President. Micheletti told La Prensa in July that he had meetings set up with Guatemala, Canada and Mexico. These meetings were never even scheduled and have obviously not occured. Why? Because not a single country in the world has recognized Micheletti's power. Congress also tried to pass a forged resignation when Mel was ousted and quickly pushed it to the side when the World Media found out it was fake.

I could go on and on about the illegality of what went on there. Educate yourself by actually examining the Honduran Constitution! It's all perfectly clear. Yet the FoxNews Macarthyists all say "Well since Congress and the Supreme Court voted him out, they had the right to point guns at his face in the middle of the night and use military forced to ship him out."

Please, respond to this message using facts Ernesto. Doing so will prove how much you really know about the issue. Should you not, hopefully people will see that people like you don't really care about the people of Honduras. You're just mad that the majority of voters actually won in 2008. Boo Hoo!!

He Hussein OBAMA is not for any open government, the dictatorship is what all Libs/Dems are after. Work for us and all privileges for them.

Harassment by Obama organizers???

From such first harassment's done in Europe by the "POLITICAL ORGANIZERS" (National Socialist German Workers' Party) it took not even 10 years and the World was in WWI.

The National Socialist German Workers' Party, commonly known in English as the Nazi Party "sozialist", was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945[end of WWII.

The Party believed that Social Welfare was the business of the State. Before the Nazi movement, the churches administered charity. The government enforced a collection of a 10% tithe which was paid directly to the churches. This charitable bureaucracy was shifted to the State, and with such money, Hitler rapidly established a totalitarian regime.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Obama For America paid $688,316.42 to international law firm Perkins Coie between January and March 2009.

In USA you can lie, it is not prohibited by law! Illegal aliens can lie to anyone to get a job, why not Obama? The nomination of an illegal for a president is also not a crime, just violation of ethics, if the Dems and Libs have any; they would not defend Clinton for his TV lie: “I DID NOT HAVE A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THAT WOMAN!

No precedent yet!

Until Obama LIES UNDER OATH TO ANY JUDGE or the FBI or to the investigating detective/policemen he can not be charge with breaking the law. If Obama, and only he under oath, not his staff or the party of Dems, or any city or state employee, presents the documents establishing his qualification for the presidency, and WITH his (direct) knowledge that it is false, than, and ONLY THAN, he may be breaking the law.

They recently found a room full of computers that showed election results where as Zelaya had won with over whelming support. Thing was the election was never held, it was all fabricated by Zelaya. Pretty sneaky and he might have gotten away with it if they hadn't stumbled acrossed it.

I am bothered by everything Obama does, I will go down in History

as the only black girl in the world who saw through Obama...

Maybe I should change my avatar name to 'Uncle Tom's wife !'

And I would be surprised if Obama supported a free country,...

He does not support his own "Free Country," otherwise known as America!

Bothered? Yes. Surprised? No.

Wow. Are you kidding? I especially like how you say that Obama has "shown he is a socialist" while simultaneously ignoring the simple fact that he is not, and that no one thinks he is, including the American Socialist Party.

Also, are you an expert on Honduran law? No? Then your assertion that Zelaya's ouster was legal is worthless.

Socialism is government by the working class where the interests of people and society are paramount rather than the pursuit of profits by a wealthy elite. Gifting the treasury to the criminal banksters in an effort to save capitalism from self-destruction is not socialism. Imperialist war in the Middle East is not socialism. Obama is proving to be an even more ruthless capitalist than G.W. Bush -- and the whole world hated that scumbag.

The Honduran coup: A warning to the working class

8 July 2009

World Socialist Web Site

Excerpt:

Since the June 28 coup by the most right-wing sections of the ruling elite, backed by the US-trained military, Honduran workers have waged an implacable struggle against the imposition of an illegitimate and repressive regime.

Over 60,000 Honduran teachers have carried out an indefinite strike since June 29, the day after the elected president, Manuel Zelaya, was seized at gunpoint by the military and bundled onto a plane that flew him out of the country. Schools remain shut nationwide, with students and parents supporting the action. Other sections of the Honduran working class have joined in this struggle, threatening to escalate it through the erection of barricades on the nation’s highways.

This heroic resistance has been carried out in the face of a de facto state of siege. Honduras remains under curfew, with the military controlling the streets. Basic democratic rights have been suspended, and nearly 1,000 opponents of the coup regime have been arrested. Sections of the media that voiced opposition to the takeover have been shut down, with broadcasting facilities taken over by armed troops and individual reporters threatened with death.

On Sunday, the coup claimed its first fatality, 19-year-old Isy Obed Murillo, shot down by Honduran troops at the Tegucigalpa airport, where thousands turned out to show support for Zelaya, whose plane was not allowed to land.

There is every reason to fear that this is only the beginning, and not just in Honduras. The country’s ruling oligarchy is among the most backward and reactionary in the region, while its military command is trained by the Pentagon, which maintains a key military base at Soto Cano, where over 600 US troops are deployed.

The danger that workers in Honduras could face a bloody tragedy like those inflicted upon working people in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina more than 30 years ago is real and present.

In Honduras, as elsewhere in Latin America, there has been no real settling of accounts for the crimes carried out by the fascist-military regimes headed by thugs like Chile’s Pinochet and Argentina’s Videla. Those who led the US-backed Honduran military death squads that carried out massacres, assassinations, “disappearances” and torture 25 years ago continue to enjoy impunity, as do most of their counterparts in the region.

The deepening of the world economic crisis—which has driven the buying power of Hondurans down 30 percent compared to just a year ago—is ushering in a new period of intense class struggle, undermining the façade of democratization erected when Latin America’s military rulers handed the reins of the state back to civilian politicians in the 1980s.

The lessons of the previous defeats must be learned to prevent new ones. Above all, as was demonstrated time and time again, from the Brazilian military coup of 1964, to Chile in 1973 and Argentina in 1976, the working class cannot defend itself against the threat of dictatorship by subordinating its struggles to supposedly “progressive” factions within the native ruling elite.

Nowhere is this truer than in the case of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, who, like the coup leaders themselves, is seeking the intercession of the Obama administration in Washington to uphold his presidency’s political legitimacy.

After his theatrical flight over Tegucigalpa Sunday—Zelaya announced that he would “jump” if he could find a parachute—the ousted president has abandoned his pledge to return to Honduras by “air, land or sea,” instead flying to Washington Tuesday for a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The outcome of that meeting was Zelaya’s agreement to “mediation” by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias between the elected president and those who overthrew him. Arias is a veteran of such dirty deals, having officiated in the late 1980s in the so-called Esquipulas process that brokered an end to the leftist guerrilla insurgency in El Salvador, consolidating power in the hands of US-backed factions within the ruling elite.

Significantly, Clinton refused to call for the restoration of the overthrown president, allowing only that the US administration favored “a peaceful resolution of this matter” and “the restoration of democracy.”

There is no question that the coup in Honduras was prepared with Washington’s foreknowledge and blessing. According to
