I don't think it's a double standard; St. Patricks day is more of one of those peace keeping holidays. They don't feel ashamed to wish ppl a happy st. patties day because it's a Party based holiday. The other holidays are more family based holidays.

St. Patty's day is about partying and celebrating a culture and not a religion so much.(yes I know it's Saint Patrick's day, *drinks green beer)

WHAT... are you freaking kidding me?!?! Christmas is a Christian holiday... so those people who're no longer Christian could be offended by utilizing the Merry Christmas Greeting. St. Patrick's day does not have an intensive tie, a minimum of anymore to faith.

When someone tells me Merry Christmas I always respond with "and Happy Hanukkah." I'm not Jewish and I don't think I go overly pc. The one single Jewish person I really knew (sad but there aren't many in the South) said Merry Christmas so I got in that response and never quit. People need to relax.

Good Point! Let's ban St. Patrick's Day!

But as Santa Claus has been declared a secular rather than a religious holiday, St. Patrick's day is even more so. The Catholic church de-listed Patrick as a Saint due to doubt as to his existence. It resembles the festival of Bachus more than any religious holiday.

It's considered an ethnic celebration - Irish heritage - more than a religious one. Only the Catholics and a handful of other Christian denominations recogize St Patrick as an important figure in religion.

I'm an agnostic against political correctness. I don't care about offending some stupid towelhead.
