Was this the Americans game plan all along?

At the beginning of the Second World War, Americans made Britain in their hour of need sell stocks and shares at a real 'knock down' price in return for vital war supplies.
Now returning to modern day events Is history repeating itself and those crafty Americans are up to their little tricks again?
Now no one can deny that the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is nothing but an environmental catastrophe.
Now to my question.
Are the Americans repeating history again by denigrating BP and criticising the company.When all along their main objective has been to ensure that the company went bankrupt so that they could 'pick and mix' the best assets and oil fields of that company.In other words exploit an oil company in its hour of need.
Do you believe that this has been a carefully orchestrated chorus from President Obama downward in their criticism whilst carefully avoiding mentioning American oil drilling companies such as Trans ocean involvement in the environmental tragedy.

Of course. This has been discussed at length on Yahoo Answers over the past few months. The whole sequence of events of anything that has nothing to do with the actual oil spill thing has been so orchestrated. eg. Libya, Blair, oil deals, Al Megrahi, Scottish ministers being called to the US??, BP selling off it's assets, litigation drag for the next 10 years or so, etc, etc. Very little about the 11 men who died or about endangered wildlife as is usually the case in circumstances like this. The whole piece has been nuts.
