Isn't it time the GOP ADMITS it's the Fascist Party?

The Republican Party has several uncomfortable resemblances to Fascism. To wit:

-- An exaggerated Patriotism, aggressive Nationalism, conceit that they alone represent the nation.

-- Paranoid sense of pervasive threat to National Security.

-- Overemphasis on the Military.

-- Cozy relationship with corporations: cronyism and sweetheart deals.

-- Use of scapegoat to rally support (Here, Liberals)

-- Anti-intellectualism; opposition to "decadence" in popular culture.

-- Flattering "the common man" for their "traditional values"; expectation of conformity.

-- Manipulation or control of the media.

-- Declaring all dissent to be unpatriotic.

-- Craving one-party rule, to the extent of rigging elections.

Any of this sound familiar?

In the spirit of Truth in Advertising, shouldn't the Republican Party rename itself the American Fascist Party?

Every statement that you have made here has resembled the democrats movement, with the exception of Military focus... and that's because the Republicans WANT TO BE ABLE TO DEFEND THIS COUNTRY, not sell it out like Clinton did. Republicans prefer Morality instead of Immorality, as the democrats prefer to take Christianity out of the equation in this country. This Country was founded on Christianity and the Freedom of Religion.

It can be argued that the Democratic party also resembles Fascism. Democrats, too, promote what they call Patriotism and Nationalism. Democrats also sense a pervasive threat to National Security. The NSA became what it is under Clinton, not Bush. I can go and relate all the above descriptors to Democrats, and indeed just about any other political party or group interest. It all comes down to what you believe and how you express those beliefs. The author of the question might believe that Bush is another Hitler, and I'm going to respect that. I don't agree with it, but I can respect it.

Don't think that plenty of people haven't seen the similarities in the US today with Germany in the 30s. Thank goodness that W is not the powerful orator that Hitler was. Did Hitler think he was going to be greeted as a liberator by the Poles?



The part that really irks me though is how the right has managed to appeal to the working class voters while pursuing economic policies that are contrary to their interests, merely giving lip service to so-called cultural issues. I'm amused by the fact that low-income workers accept that if their taxes are cut by $10 while the billionaires' taxes are cut by millions/billion while the deficit grows that they are actually better off.
