I'm just interested, I saw a documentary by national geographic, and read an article in popular mechanics, Both did not to explain anything, that I could understand, I'm a bit of a stickler for facts and figures so I'm looking for research papers. There must be some out there, I'm trying to persuade my inquisitive nephew it was not controlled explosions. I'll ask in other catergories as well..

I believe that there isn't a conspiracy and that the it was controlled explosions. I think people need to see it for what it was, two planes, loaded with fuel that caused the collapse. Melting steel doesn't stay up.

There is no real explanation why the two towers fell just like that. However, there are scientific explanation for why the towers should not fall just like that. There is a video called Loose Change. You can watch it from google videos. It is astonishing to see how these people try to explain the fall of the two towers.
