4 Jun 1940 Mr Churchill said ''we shall never surrender...carry on ...until in Gods good time the new world with all it's power and might STEPS FORTH to the rescue and liberation of the old world'' Mr Churchill was most complimentary he said ''what they [Americans] have done for us was the most generous act in human history'' he gave us the title ''leaders of the free world''
Today the whilst boys tell us ''you were late coming to our aid'' ''the yanks did nothing but make money off us'' ''the Russians defeated the Germans not you yanks''''you yanks waited and once you saw we could defeat the Germans you sided with us'' withst the advent of the internet y'all feel comfortable saying these things howeverst we yanks don't take kindly to the cute mouth talkst and down the road y:all going to have to payst the pricest
So y:all ready to pay the pricest?

You are misrepresenting Churchill, what Churchill said was " IF, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old" The crucial part of the speech is the word IF and since Britain was not "subjugated and starving" the hypothesis you espouse is meaningless. Operation Sea Lion (the German plan to invade the UK) was scrapped in September 1940, over a year before Pearl Harbour so the idea that the Germans had subjugated the island or large part of it is nonsensical. You can claim the USA "rescued" Britain during WWII but you cannot claim that they fulfilled the "rescue and liberation" that Churchill was speaking of. But hey why let facts hinder your rants? Just use perfidious methods of misrepresentation to make your theories hold water.

Are you still upset because we kicked your @rses out of Canada in the war of 1812?

Don't be a sore loser. Canada is now a free sovereign nation and we are all friends.

We hold no animosity, we will still go to the aid of the USA as we did in the Gulf War, and we will work alongside the USA to fight terrorism.

You poor angry fellow. Your USA were nearly bankrupt by the end of the war of 1812. The war was over in Europe so if the British would have sent their full military force you would probably be Canadian today.

The USA invaded Canada, they did not achieve their goal of expanding their borders. They lost far more troops than Britain and Britain simply didn't want the expense of sending more troops to another war. Just take defeat like a man and stop whining. Canada is free of American tyranny so that's all that matters.

At the sound of your redneck ignorance I would take great pleasure in making you do a double somersault and disappear up your own @rsehole.

"withst the advent of the internet y'all feel comfortable saying these things"

That's part of the problem; You're getting het up about what 'people on the internet' are saying to you on Youtube or forums or whatever, but part of you knows that they're just talking crap. That's the kind of environment where it's easy to throw such insults from both sides.

'You'd be speaking German if it wasn't for us!' 'You guys only came over here because there was something in it for you!'. I would argue there's some truth in both those statements. Getting to the nuances isn't easy particlarly if you get your back up so easily, no matter what side of the pond you're from, and if you respond in kind then you give up all hope of a sensible conversation of the kind that might take place face to face.

Back in the day people read books written by people who were better informed of the various reasons why the USA didn't dive into the war in 1939. In Europe, each country teaches kids about both WW1 and WW2 etc from their own country's perspective. The US does the same. Sadly, a lot of people on never make the leap to realize that there IS any other perspective.

I realize that what these people are saying is very hurtful. It's kind of despicable, really, but try not to base your view of all Brits on the yammerings of a ignorant blowhards on the net.

I hope the answer will be no. The problem is there will be no war without both sides knowing which side the worlds largest military is on.
