Question:
Why does Bush believe that he can bail us out of a recession by giving out more tax cuts for the rich?

Does he realize that at some point, that money has to be paid back? Does he also realize that tax cuts for the rich DOES NOT trickle down to the lower rungs of society? Namely the middle-class and the working poor?

I wonder.

are you joking?

bush hasn't had the slightest concern for america FROM THE START.

he now senses that his opportunities to give away more of OUR money to his friends is coming to an end.

he also sees a bit of a problem with the economy - bush has never actually tried to solve problems - but only used them to further advance his friends bank accounts.

folks, don't be surprised if bush is the first president to literally bail on his job.

don't be shocked if one day we all wake up and find that he has just left the nation for good - off to paraguay or whatever nation he has been buying land in - who also does not have an extradition treaty with the usa.

next time don't pick a loser, awol, drunk, sniveling, cowardly weakling over a decent man when chosing your president folks.

that's what it really comes down to.

edit:

to the guy below me - the stock market dropped by over 200 points AGAIN today - and unemployment is up and very few jobs were created - but here's the hard news - retail companies employed LESS people in the month of december. less - in december...

We're in a battle for our lives for things that really matter to us. There's a shell game going on like I've never seen before.

I want to start by saying something nice about President Bush. Of all the presidents we've had with the last name of Bush, his economic plan ranks in the top two.

A lot of Americans think they got a tax cut, and they didn't because their local property tax went up, their excise tax went up, their sales tax went up, and their prices went up and everything else, because we failed to invest in some of these other things we ought to be doing.. We are squeezing the middle class, we are losing the middle class, and the gap between the haves and the have-nots is growing wider and wider, not closing as it used to be.

When our Homeland Security Alert System goes to orange, our state and local governments' budgets go into the red. I fear the Bush Administration and the Republican Congress are sacrificing homeland security and other needs in favor of deep tax cuts that will have little or no positive effect on the economy.

I believe that when you know something's going wrong, you make it right.

> Democrats chose to cause one. It really is that simple and if you ever got any information from outside of acknowledged Democrat propaganda mills you would know that. They SAID SO. We TOLD YOU back in 2003 what WOULD cause a recession and they DID IT. It wasn't working fast enough for their liking so they also caused a bank and credit panic in time for the 2008 election - a move they announced they would do back in March '08. > There were not 8 years of tax-cuts. Thank you for proving you aren't ABLE to engage in honest debate. > Revenue DID increase - A LOT. Thanks again. > There was no Democrat-proof Congress so fiscal policy always had to include Democrat-demands. That is indeed what went wrong.

He is a typical smart-assed politician who knows how to take in the majority voters by means of sweet begining and bitter at the end. Do you mean the American huge deficit or debt that we needed to pay back? I think so too. Once I read an article in the finance websit written by a reputable investment consultant qouted the reality of human nature of greed, fear, and selfish. That's why many Hong Kong citizens are hooked on gambling of horse racing, soccer games, casinos in Macau (a city not far away from Hong Kong)and, particularly in trading stock shares as the bull market goes on for a while. Many greedy Hong Kong citizens have quitted their full time jobs and become a professional gamblers in stock market and investment. Many Hong Kong citizens become losers and killed themselves in the past years. I think Hong kong government must cut the overpaid civil servants' overpaid salaries as a stepping stone to narrower the too wide poor and rich gap. I think you must have received the letter undersigned by Tom Hung and Fred Ying that we addressed to the Hong Kong secretary of the finance and the chief executive. You and I probably know what cost the Iraq war. The smart-assed American Republican politicians know how to take in many ignorant voters that voted for less tax to pay to Uncle Sam. The bull markets appeared the bubbles are too big and the traditional stable economy is not likely in the scene. Why they are so stupid to let the subprime loan happened without any thought? It's only because the property transaction will make US government to collect more tax. The bull market too. Hong Kong government has collected ranging from one billion to ten billion Hong Kong dollars each working day (stamp tax) from stock shares transaction in the past one to two years. Why's that? The Hong Kong civil servants and, particularly the government officials are too much overpaid. Donald Tsang Yum-Kuen is currently taken 430k HK d. per month in comparison to Bill Clinton was getting equivalent to 100k HK d. per month. They want Hong Kong stock market to become a black Jack table for international gamblers. You American voters should be beware the smart-assed Republicans wanted the Democrats to split the votes, too. The conservative's trend in this world is make our society where the riches become richer and treat the poor the same by making them poorer. I think Bush and Donald Tsang are both evil politicians in history, both of them don't give a damn to the poor.

Perhaps he doesn't care! Those are his supporters, so he thinks he owes them. The Republican Party traditionally has been the Party of the Rich, so when Republicans are in office, they like to reward their affluent base, and they feel no compassion for the middle class and working poor who most likely voted Democratic, anyway. President Bush will retire from office in a year (!), and someone else will be left to cope with the residue of his administration.

JFK actually did the same type of tax cut in the 1960s and the US economy not only stopped a recession it became one of the most profitable times in US history (for everyone).

Have you ever worked....and what welfare recipiant signed your check for your pay......the money comes back as more jobs and nore paychecks....that are taxed...and as far as the rich gatting "more" back...it is because they PAY MORE in the first place....if you earn 40,000 and pay 10% you pay 4000. If the prez cuts that by 2 % you get $800 back

If you earn 200,000 and pay 10 % you pay 20,000 abd the 2 % cut is worth 4000...simple math...but the rich still PAY MORE...here the may making 200,000 still paid 16,000

But your views on economics we can see are limited to move on orgs points without the truth behind them...

Yes but all the Republican candidates Huckabee and Giulianni say so!! I don't think they care about the general economy or the middle class.

Even your JFK knew tax cuts increase revenue. Plus the more money the people have to spend the better.

Keep wondering.

The very idea that a tax cut must be 'paid back' shows you are completely clueless as to basic, generic economics.

Bush doesn't believe it either - he simply uses that as an excuse to give tax cuts to his wealthy friends and supporters. "Trickle down" economics has never worked, except as an argument for giving tax cuts to people who don't need them...
