The law saying that Americans can be detained indefinitely? I thought Obama passed that? Someone told me it was already in Bush's Patriot Act. Can someone give me a link to prove this? I'm not interested in a Bush is evil, or Obama is evils argument, I just want the facts.

It is not true.

It was Obama (swt) - see http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/with-reservations-obama-signs-act-to-allow-detention-of-citizens/

Note - No one making the claim can point to the provision in the NDAA, as signed into law, which purports to allow this.

prior to Obama it was not a actual law, but that did not stop Bush from claiming the right and doing it anyway. Obama also put the war costs that Bush made "off budget" back as a part of the federal budget. While you can argue both Bush and Obama have similar outcomes, Obama is the only one to put it on the books and make it public. that is what is meant by "transparency"
