Question:
Getting a full copy of UK birth certificate?
?

Hi all!

I'm looking to get a full copy of my birth certificate from my local registry centre tomorrow. As its not in my birth area I was wondering how much this would cost? I know a couple years ago it was £13 but I wondered if it had went up?

Also do you need ID to get a copy? If so does it have to be photo ID?

Thanks! Full marks to an informative answer :)

I just had to answer some security questions as i ordered it over the phone, you shouldn't need any id. And its £20.00 now.. got mine about 5 weeks ago so should still be the same hope this helps. :)

Yes you do need some sort of id and usually you can only get it from the district you were registered

You can apply for a copy on-line (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/). the cost is £9.25 including postage or the priority service is £23.40.
