Why the flaming heck are people saying 2111? That's in 100 years and 99% of us wont be alive then.

2001 census wasnt released in 2101 it was released before infact there is a website which you can view the full statistics of the country.

I do family history so I often deal with past census. The details of people are kept strictly for exactly 100 years. The first census was 1841 so was released in 1941. (the war interfered with this) There has been census 1841,1851,1861,1871,1881,1891,1901 and the 1911 one has just been released. It is very exciting to see what your ancesters were doing! The one that has just been done (2011) will be kept strictly for 100 years.this is to ensure all the people in the census will be long dead and cant be bothered by any family reverlations

The information contained in the census is kept confidential for 100 years, so it will indeed be 2111 before this information can be accessed. It is only now that the 1911 census has been made available. The Government and other public bodies have access to this is information sooner as it is used shape policies and forecasting future services such as housing, health etc etc.

There is a big difference between statistics and the original individual-level data (i.e names and addresses etc.). The original records are confidential for 100 years. The aggregated statistics will begin to be released in 2012 - see the ONS website for further news on progress:

The data figures will be released in September 2012.

The reason people keep saying 2111 is because all the information connected to names and address's etc will be released in 2111 in hundred years time and most of us will probably be dead and hence will protect our right to privacy in our lifetimes.

The Government are trying to hide the immigrant population which they brought to overpopulated Great Britain in secret. We may be able to demand this information under freedom of information laws, perhaps a lawyer may like to comment on this ? It is classic government social-engineering to have kept this information secret for so long. Where are Wikileaks when we need them?

@ JOHN G No sensitive information need be published, most real British simply want to know how the Asian and African population transfer is affecting our British culture, not an unreasonable request .We should be able to demand this information

Census data is kept for 25 years before you get to know anything.
